Author D'Ann Lindun is joining us this evening. Her new book from Crimson Romance is called Wild Horses, and it comes out June 4th. That's just FOUR days away! I'm totally psyched about this book! Can't wait to buy it.
Let's get to our interview before I completely devolve into a raving fan girl...
Nikkie Locke: In the publishing world, authors do fun things to get published—Like writing queires in which you get to sum up your 200+ page novel in maybe two paragraphs. In that same vein, tell us about your book. : )
D'Ann: LOL Ok, I cheated. Here's the blurb:
Her family ranch outside of Payson, Arizona, is the last place Castaña Castillo thought she’d ever see again. But when her mustang activist brother goes missing, Castaña returns home to lead the search. Years of bad blood between local law
enforcement and the Castillo men lead Castaña to believe the local cops won’t
put out much effort to locate her brother. Especially since they think he
murdered two federal wildlife agents.
Disgraced FBI agent Jake Breton needs to bring in Martin Castillo to redeem himself and resurrect his career. Falling in love with someone related to the suspect is the last thing he can afford to do. The last time he followed his heart, and not his
head, it nearly cost him his life.
Danger, adventure, and death push Jake and Castaña together. Will they learn to trust each other and leave their pasts behind?
NL: Less than a week to your release date for Wild Horses. You also have a second book, A Cowboy to Keep, releasing four days later on June 8th. How are you feeling?
D'Ann: Sick to my stomach! LOL Just kidding. Nervous. Proud. Scared. I'm going to steal this from a blog I read the other day, but it's like when your kid graduates high school. You know you want to keep them yours forever, but you've done your job, and they're ready to go out into the big, bad, scary world!
NL: I read on the Word Wranglers blog that you rode your first horse at three years old. Tell us more about that.
D'Ann: I did start riding at three! A bratty little black pony named Beauty. My parents supplied horses for two Arizona guest ranches that no longer exist. We spent winters in Arizona and summers in Ouray (U-ray), Colorado. I had an ideal childhood. I'd get on my horse and go off fighting dragons, Indians, or be the Pony Express rider. Later, I guided dudes (greenhorns, not guys!) out of the livery in Ouray. When my parents retired, and my sister took over, my dad became cowboss on a large cattle ranch. Riding a good horse, working a smart dog, moving cattle equals heaven for me. I lived to go with him. Nowadays, my daughter and I trail ride as often as we can, taking our five dogs with us.
NL: Wild Horses is a romantic suspense novel that features FBI agent Jake Breton. Are you drawn to suspense in other categories?
D'Ann: Absolutely. I love the ID channel. I'd watch it all day if I could. I love Dateline mysteries, Criminal minds and my favorite TV show is Justified. I love suspense in my books, and read it the most. Same with movies.
NL: Ooooo! Justified! I love Justified. ; ) Final question, sexiest man alive. Go.
D'Ann: Easy-peasy. Don't even have to think about it. Country music superstar Vince Gill. I've been in lust, er love, with him for years. That voice. Those blue eyes. Sigh. Traveled across the state two times to see him perform at Colorado State Fair.
D'Ann's Biography: I draw inspiration from the area where I live, Western
Colorado, my husband of twenty-nine years and our daughter. Composites of our
small farm, herd of fourteen horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland
heeler, eight ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in my
stories! My road to publication was long and rocky—twenty years of dashed hopes
and crushed dreams before I got the call (email)!
D'Ann Lindun's Wild Horses will be available June 4th from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, KOBO, and additional sellers. It is available for pre-orders on Amazon now. You can click here to go directly to her book.
Thanks for stopping by, D'Ann!
