NL: Tell us about your book!
Lisa: The Name of the Game is a romantic comedy about a man and woman who have the
same name -- but very different personalities. He thinks she's a flake. She thinks he's a stick-in-the mud. But each time they're are together, they feel an undeniable spark.
After a long day on her feet, all flight attendant Kyle McKinney wants is a cool glass of wine, a warm bath, and a hot man in her bed. Instead, she ends up in a tug-of-war over misdelivered mail with her sexy-but-nerdy neighbor, Kyle "Mac" McKinney.
Thrown together by a shared name and address, Kyle and Mac butt heads as their very different lives begin to overlap. He wears sweater vests and teaches college accounting. She dresses like Carmen Miranda and practices scream therapy. But together, they must deal with a nosy elderly neighbor, a misguided stripper, and an overzealous IRS agent -- without killing each other.
When opposites attract, it's like playing with fire. But will Kyle and Mac figure out that love is the name of the game...before it's too late?
NL: You have several "days jobs" to your name. Tell us more about them.
Lisa: My husband and I run a small production company that produces a little bit of everything, from commercials to TV shows. We just wrapped the first season of two technology magazine shows, which I wrote and produced, and were thrilled to win our first Telly Award.
Our passion project is a short film I wrote and he directed called SOLO.(www.flysolofilm.com) It's about a family coming to terms with the loss of an experimental aviation pilot. Though it's a sci-fi adventure/drama, it's really about relationships -- as I
think all good stories are.
I also work as a web producer, which can include everything from writing and editing to building pages via HTML and CSS. I'm definitely better at the creative side of things, but I've learned so much on the tech side that has helped me navigate the online world as an
NL: What made you decide to branch out to writing romance novels?
Lisa: I started reading romance novels when I was young -- maybe 12 or 13. I moved on to other genres, both as a reader and a writer, but kept coming back to romance for it's feel-good quality. There is so much angst in the world, and I really love being a part of something positive and fun.
NL: Tell us about you. Married? Children- furry or not? Love where you live?
Lisa: My husband Lex and I have been married for five years. We live in Los Angeles with
our two dogs, a Golden Doodle named Sammy and a Cockapoo named Buddy.
NL: Sexiest Man Alive.
Lisa: Hmm, that is a tough one! I will see just about anything with Hugh Grant, I have recurring romantic dreams about Russell Brand, and Tom Brady makes my heart go pitter-patter. But God's honest truth, I would choose my husband Lex over any of them.
